Story and Details
Watches and race car driving go hand in hand and both have attracted movie stars from the very beginning. In this image, from a magazine article, we see the "King of Cool" Steve McQueen on the set of the cult classic automotive drama Le Mans from 1971. As the film's leading man, trying to take the lead in the race, he's wearing a fire suit with two patches embroidered on it promoting racing's most recognizable names - Heuer and Gulf. Heuer has long been a sponsor of various racing teams, currently sponsoring Formula 1, Formula E, various Porsche teams, the World Endurance Championship, and the Indy 500 under the current Tag Heuer brand name. On the other side, Gulf has created some of the most iconic liveries, including dressing some truly historic machines, like Ford GT40s and Porsche 917s.
Of course, the incredible Porsche 917K was featured in the movie, since the film was shot during the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche's first victory in the legendary endurance race. In fact, much of the racing footage is real wheel to wheel action with the camera car finishing 9th overall and 2nd in its class.
McQueen is well-known for his love for Motorsport and might be the only actor who could rival Paul Newman’s love for the sport. This newer printing of an iconic character and moment in cinematic history is perfect for someone who loves the nostalgia of late 1960s / early 1970s auto racing and culture.

Clearly a labor of love. Quality ad, quality framing, quality service. The frame even uses anti reflective coated glass, which makes a huge difference and is something I never expected at this price point. Honestly, I don't see how he can make enough money on the sale to make it worth it
