Story and Details

It may come as no surprise that we adore things that only get better with age. And much like the patina of a vintage watch takes decades to develop a character we love, Bordeaux’s finest wines grow richer, deeper, and more complex with every passing year until ultimately great patience is rewarded when a bottle is uncorked and savored. So much of the appreciation for vintage watches - and wine - comes from living a full life before it enters our life. 

It was a treat to come across a number of pages from a tome cataloging the famous châteaus of Bordeaux and their wines. The photography, likely capturing landscape and vineyard images between 1910 - 1920, provide a glimpse of the famous region near the Gironde river and Bordeaux city know for exceptional wines such as Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Lafite, Latour, Margaux, Haut-Brion, and more.

To me, seeing these pages is almost like experiencing a winery... Once you're exposed to the scenes - the castles, the grounds, the barrels, the old wine bottles (and labels), you'll want to try more wine, learn more about wine, build a wine cellar in your house!

Just like some wines must be poured a certain way - and in a specific glass - to be fully enjoyed, an artifact like this must be framed thoughtfully to get the most pleasure from it. Perhaps with a little color - say a shade of red ;) And I think a fine wine print like this will pair perfectly with a vintage Rolex or Patek ad - among others...
